Ideas for an exciting present

Finding a good present is often a challenge for all of us. Usually, the person who we’re trying to surprise has all the material things already – clothes, jewelery, phones, etc.

Since several years now, when I’m challenged to find a present for a dear person, the first thing that comes to my mind is to offer an adventure or some kind of activity. And almost every time, it hits the bullseye. Because causing someone an emotion is way better and memorable than to offer a shirt which will eventually will be worn out. Another perk about this kind of presents is that you can count yourself in. After all, happiness is doubled when shared.

In this post I’ll share with you several suggestions that are already tried out and so I can tell they are successful! As I’m from Bulgaria, for Bulgarian readers they will be easier to discover, however I’m sure this kind of activities can be found anywhere. And note, the list is not exhaustive.

Escape room

Since 2-3 years the Escape rooms in Bulgaria have flourished and they are visited by escape room-enthusiasts from all over the world. Especially in the capital city, Sofia, I can proudly say that escape rooms are on a whole new level.

Wherever, joining this kind of experience is very beneficial and fun, as in some kind you are living in a film for an hour! And this also involves a lot of team work and it’s an intellectual challenge. Anyways, it can be a great present to offer even to a first-timer or an experienced escape room-explorer.

In Sofia, I can recommend :

…and others to come.

Cocktail class

Who doesn’t love cocktails? They can be sweet, soar, salty… and a good cocktail always reveals the alcohol at it’s best version.

This can be a very cool experience for someone who loves drinking cocktails. Particularly in Sofia, you can find Disaster to master cocktail classes who invite some of the best bartenders in Bulgaria and sometimes on a worldwide scale. You can actually learn really interesting techniques. The hosts are very nice and every event is on a different bar location in Sofia, which also contributes to exploring cool bars in the city.

Cooking class

For all the cooking-lovers out there. Whether it's to learn the basics or excel by learning new techniques. Whether it's for the sugar love or savory dishes. I can recommend  Amuse Bouche culinary school in Sofia, especially the ice cream making course - never ever had a better ice cream that the one we made on that class (not even in Italy).

Sailing on a boat

Just a thought, this could be very convenient if you're living in a city next to the sea or to a lake. For example in Sofia, Sail with me are renting out sailing yachts in the nearest lake to the city. You can have a nice lunch, a party or a romantic experience. In any case, it's a beautiful escape for someone stuck in the daily routine during the summer.

Trampoline experience

Because why not? Everyone has the need to feel childish again. Area 52 in Sofia are proposing all kinds of different experiences on a trampoline : battle, dancing, sports or just some good jumping. It's suitable for adults but it can make a great kids party - afterwards they'll be so tired, they won't be able to bother you.

Even if these suggestions are not the best fit for your person, you can always think of a cinema ticket, a plane ticket or even a nice walk. The importance is to make that person happy, right?

And think of it this way - non materialistic presents are better for the environment - emotions can't be worn out or thrown away (literally).

Hope you find my alternative suggestions useful for when wondering what present to choose. If you have any comments, feel free to leave one in the comment section below. If you're interested in other ideas on preserving resources you can join my mailing list to receive newest posts :)
